Most problems pushing air from one room to the next have to do with ventilation in general. That is, if you're pushing air into a room and you close the door in that room, with thick carpet, there's no way for the air to escape the room - so your fan isn't going to work.This suncourt unit is nice in that it's sound level, even on high, is relatively low. But one other benefit is that it has a variable speed dial which allows you to, effectively, turn down the volume. Most fans settings consist of either a high, which is obnoxiously loud, or a low which doesn't push any air. So this fan pretty much takes care of that issue.I used it on top of a standard 4" x 12" floor 'register' by just using 3 pieces of 12"x12" (2" thick) foam pads purchased at a hardware store. I took off the register grill. Cut the 4" x 11" center out of the the bottom one to go over the duct opening. Then cut the top two out with the enclosed 'wall' template cut-out included with the fan. The foam helps insulate the sound and doesn't seem to affect the airflow any. You do have to make a 'plug-in' end for the fan as it only comes with a 'pig tail'. So get a $6 extension cord end at the hardware store as well if you plan to plug it in to a wall outlet. It's not glamorous but it works pretty well and I believe it moves far more air than a standard register (insert) booster. Not to mention, the 'grill' you see in the picture can be rotated 360 degrees to direct the air in any direction you want.I'll try to include a picture of my install in the user photos in a day or two. 12 of 12 people found the following review helpful. Works well By Marty Engebretsen Oasis Assembly I have lived in the home I am in for over 14 years and have always had a problem in the winter with getting heat from the wood stove into the back bedroom. Suncourt thru-wall room to room fan By kgriffis I own a pellet stove that I have in the basement. I was leaving the door to the cellar open and letting nature bring the heat up. Sometimes the room in the cellar was 80 degrees or more. With this fan mounted at the top of the stairs and exiting into the living room I am getting the heat where I need it and the cellar is cooler. It's a win win. I was having trouble with the fan initially and sent it back for a replacement. I again had problems and worked with the company to figure it all out. They were very patient and I found the problem was mine, not theirs. The fan works as advertised, maybe even better. Quick Intallation, Easy instructions, Easy use, as well as a value By Wiseguy 945 I finally decided mid way through the summer to replace my aging thermostat with a more modern programable one after the shock of the first summer electric bill. Every day I would raise the thermostat before I left, but ocassionally I'd forget and waste a days worth of cooling. There are many choices for thermostats, and I initially looked at this model because of the name, Honeywell, A brand that I recognize and Know is a major player in thermostats and climate controll. I purchased this model because of its great step by step instruction and ease of installation. I have worked with other older programable thermostats, and many use to be difficult to program and even more dificult to figure out the display. Well, this unit has a nice easy to read picture display, and the programing is a snap. One feature that is nice is that it has 4 programable times during the day: wake up, going to work, home from work, bedtime, allowing you to save energy over the day, but also over night when it is cooler. It also has easy to program saturday and sunday settings as well, with available 4 programing settings as well if needed. So if your in the market for a new thermostat, this is a nice simple unit, affordable, and easy to use, why waste more money on a more expensive model. 33 of 34 people found the following review helpful. Great thermostat--lousy installation directions By D. Beach I installed this thermostat to control a gas furnace, following the wiring instructions. The instructions said to remove the jumper wire in the connection terminal if you had a two-wire control circuit. I did as instructed; the furnace came on but would not quit. After I played with the unit for several hours, my wife checked the Honeywell website, and finally found that the instructions there said that the jumper was mandatory for proper operation if you had a single transformer and a two wire system. I put the jumper back on and the thermostat has worked flawlessly since. The thermostat works really well, but the directions stink. 15 of 16 people found the following review helpful. Orwig It took more time to remove the old thermostat than it did to install this new one. I did read the instructions carefully, but I did not look all the way through the packaging materials. I made my own wire labels from masking tape and carefully noted what each wire was connected to on the old thermostat. As I was getting the new thermostat out to install it, out pops a complete set of stick-on wire labels! Using those would have saved a few minutes.The only thing that was not real clear was just when to attach the new thermostat to its wall-mounted base. Since I am using the optional battery backup mode, I found that I could sit in my recliner and program the thermostat, then click it into place on the wall mount. I don't use a lot of alternate programs ... just the same one each day. The "copy" option worked great. Just set up your first day, and copy it to the other days. Simple.I have a heat pump with a second stage (very expensive to run) electric heat strip. My old thermostat would kick in that second stage whenever I clicked up the temperature setting a bit. This new thermostat lets you set just how far apart the setting for the heat pump and the second stage should be. Also, it has an "early recovery" mode that anticipates the morning "warmup" phase ahead of time, and it starts the phase early and gradually ... once again so that the second stage heat does not kick in unless it is really cold outside.If there are any negatives, the backlight is not very bright. When you press any button you can see the display in the dark, but it isn't near as bright as a computer monitor or flat-screen tv. Still, if you are going to use this with the batteries as the sole source of power, this level of brightness would probably use minimal battery resources. If your wiring allows powering it directly from the furnace / heat pump, then it is too bad that there is not a brighter setting for the display. 14 of 14 people found the following review helpful. Lux TX9100E Thermostat By Don E. Guimond This very versatile programmable thermostat is a great alternative to purchasing a more expensive Honeywell thermostat. This thermostat will readily wire up to any single stage or two-stage heat pump system - electric or gas; my unit is a Rheem all electric two-stage heat pump system. Lux shipped the unit promptly and well-packaged. All necessary mounting accessories and clearly-written instructions came with the unit. Installation was a breeze. I must note that if you are a do-it-yourself type, I strongly recommend that you contact Lux and/or your A/C-heater manufacturer to compare notes on which color wire goes to which terminal on your thermostat when connecting the wires. Each system's wiring codes are different, and thermostat makers add extra connection terminals to accommodate as many different systems as possible. For example, in my Rheem system, I have a brown "C" wire that is used as a common for the thermostat and a blue wire that is used to activate one of the heater controls. I connected the brown "C" wire to the "C" terminal and the blue wire to the "B" terminal of the thermostat. In other systems, there is no "C" wire and the blue wire is used as a common. In this particular case, if you were to connect the blue wire to the "B" terminal on your thermostat instead of connecting it to the "C" terminal, you could possibly damage your system. Once wired up correctly, the unit is very easy to program - it takes maybe 15 to 20 minutes to set up a 7-day routine that once set, can be left alone and never touched again and it will provide you with round-the-clock automatic temperature adjustments that will save you money and keep your home comfortable.There is only one small negative to the Lux TX9100E thermostat. In some wiring applications, it may be necessary to insert a jumper wire between two specific terminals

The device I have has a problem in the Cool-OFF-heat switch. I have a terrible time tweaking the switch between "off" and "heat"; for some reason the fan starts working continuously and no heat is coming out. A Must have - variable temperature differental 1 -3 degrees By joebo The beauty of this thermostat is that you can set the temperature differential from 1-3 degrees. Most thermostats kick on when the room temp changes one degree - the one we had did this, and my a/c was running every 5 minutes. I could not find any t-stats that had a variable temp differential at Home Depot or Sears, so I ordered this one. I could not be more happy. Keeps the temperature in a narrow range. I live in the tropics so I use air conditioning 24/7. I set the Robertshaw 9600 for 79 degrees and when the room air reaches 80 it comes on. When the temp reaches 78 it shuts off. My old thermostat had a five degree spread which was intolerable. My electric bill is lower now. Buy it. See all 8 customer reviews...
